Finally

I will finally update this site and the projects I've completed since the Punch-Out cabinet. I might use this "main" blog to post rambling thoughts now and again on video games in general. Links to the individual project blogs are on the right column.

Punch-Out!! Cabinet

This blog will serve as a hub to my arcade cabinet projects and other adventures. The first link to the right is for the "Punch-Out!! 25th Anniversary" arcade machine I recently finished. Other projects will show up with additional links in the future.

It was only last year that I came across a Nintendo emulator called Nestopia, and I realized I could play all those NES games I used to own on a PC. Not long after that, I found out about the M.A.M.E. project and the amazing software that allows you to play basically any arcade games too!

By some strange chance I soon happened by arcadecontrols.com and learned about people that actually built their own arcade cabinets that utilized software like Nestopia and M.A.M.E. Well that was too much retro video gaming goodness for someone like me to resist. Having built my first computer in August of last year, I decided to try and build my own arcade cabinet. Little did I know that I would soon refer to this cabinet as my "first project." I believe I have caught the cabinet building bug, and rather fast. I started building this machine around the end of October 2006 and since then I have ideas for several more cabinets of varying sizes in my head. This blog and the blogs I will link to will document my new madness... err, um I mean my new 'Hobby,' yeah that's more like it.

I owe the bulk of my knowledge about this hobby to the many people posting in the forums at arcadecontrols.com found at http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/board,1.0.html The site contains many years worth of ideas, information, trials, errors and successes.
